FAQS

The Eglu Go house is suitable for chicks over the age of 12 weeks. We recommend you remove the roosting bars from inside the coop until the chicks are big enough to perch and walk across the bars safely. The Eglu run is not suitable for chicks under the age of 12 weeks without supervision due to risk of escape and predators. You should use plenty of bedding in the coop to keep the chicks warm, and change the bedding every few days.
The size of run you need depends on how many chickens you have, what chickens you have (breed/size/personality), and how much they are allowed to roam free outside the run. Always aim to give your chickens as much space as you can, either by letting them free range in the garden or backyard or by getting a bigger Walk in run attached to the run of your coop. If you're not able to extend further, try moving the coop and run as often as possible or changing the soil or wood chips regularly. If you're having difficulty deciding what run size to get, feel free to contact our customer service team who will be happy to help!
If for any reason you're not happy with your purchase you can return it to us for a full refund within 180 days. You will need to dismantle and pack up the coop, so it's a good idea to keep the original boxes. For your peace of mind Omlet also gives you a 2 year warranty, so please contact us if anything goes wrong and we'll do our best to fix it straight away. Please note the warranty does not cover natural weather, animal and pest damage.

While the strong materials and thought out design makes it extremely hard for predators to get to your pets, no coop is 100% predator proof. Check the coop and run regularly to make sure all features are working as intended, including latches, doors and run clips.

If you live in an area with lots of predators, you might want to consider adding additional protection to the run. Keep on top of egg collecting and control rodents to minimise the risk of attracting snakes and lizards. If you've seen possums or other particularly dexterous animals around your yard, it's also a good idea to find a way to secure doors and latches with extra locks to stop them getting to your flock.

The Omlet Automatic Chicken Coop Door can be fitted to the Eglu run, however, it cannot be attached to the Eglu Go house. We are always developing new products and have shared the interest for a Go Autodoor with our design team, so stay tuned!
Yes, if needed we do have spare panels. Please get in contact with our customer service team to place an order.
These are moulding marks that appear on all Go panels.

The metal chicken runs are designed to be used outdoors for years to come. However, we recommend that you check the run regularly for signs of corrosion, especially if you live somewhere with extreme weather conditions or close to the sea. Corrosion will occur if the coating has been scratched or scraped for example. If you do see some, remove any loose rust and touch up with a weather resistant paint. If you have covers on your run and experience heavy snowfall it's advised you clear the snow off the roof to avoid the panels being damaged from the weight.

Yes, you can convert your Go to a Go UP by purchasing a frame and ladder, and the optional wheels. If you want a run you will also need a Go UP run.
The Go and Go UP houses are exactly the same. The Go UP is just lifted off the ground on a frame.

While the Eglu Go does not have traditional wooden perches, it does have specially designed perches with a structured surface and rounded corners for the chickens to sleep comfortably on at night.

Roosting bars allow the chickens to grip onto something while they sleep, which makes them feel safe and comfortable. Although they don’t look like traditional wooden perches, roosting bars are great for larger breeds who find it tricky to jump up to a raised perch, or recently rescued hens who don’t have the strength to flap, and the shape of the bars makes sure most of the droppings fall straight onto the slide out, easy clean tray underneath.

The house is lightweight enough that it is easy to move around the garden, especially if you have an extra pair of hands. If you have a run on your Eglu Go, moving it is made much easier with the wheel set and the run handles.
Thanks to the twin wall insulation system, the Eglu Go will keep your chickens nice and warm in winter without any additional covers. The Extreme Weather Protection does, however, offer extra protection and will keep the coop warmer for longer, so if you live somewhere very cold it’s a great addition to your setup.

Eglu Go Up - Chicken Coop for 3 Large Hens
Chicken coop
Rebecca,
I bought this as well were moving house into a new build with a stop off at my parents bungalow. The hens were previously kept in a pheasant shed with a built in outdoor area. Much of the appeal of this coop being that it can be moved around as the hens ditched their run. My husband constructed it which was no problem for him. I like the fact it's plastic so will be easier to clean and maintain. I already owned an Omlet moveable pen so have adapted that to provide space. The coop and run are very expensive compared to a wooden coop but I am hoping it will pay off in terms of durability and possibly resale if the hens die.

Des-res for chooks
Lesley,
As a real novice where keeping chooks is concerned I am delighted to be the lucky owner of an Eglu Go Up and 3 Bantam Wyandottes. It took them a little while and a lot of encouragement for them to get the hang of the steps. But they got there in the end. One of them even walks up each step! The swing so far has not been a hit so I've removed it and just put in a perch, which they are totally ignoring at the moment. The Eglu is really easy to move around our paddock and the girls get very excited about each patch of new ground. So far so good with predators, our resident magpies think the girls are a new food source but cannot get close enough to them. We also have various visiting neighbourhood dogs. All of whom have shown a great deal of interest and tried to get in to the run. A really good product which was easy to assemble and really easy to keep clen.

Omlet Eglu
Charlotte,
I'm a chicken mama to many fluffy butts. My favorite breed is my bantam frizzle cochins. One in particular, Rachel, has recently become the object of some serious henpecking...to the point of being left bloodied and bald. I decided, if she could pull through, she had earned the right to a peaceful existence in her very own coop. The Omlet Eglu Go Up Coop and Run has so much to offer! She has tons of room in both the coop and run. I added the wheels and love how I can move her to a fresh area of grass and leaves daily. She's thriving and looks so happy. We've started getting cooler nights here, so to be able to close her coop door from the outside keeps her warm and comfy during the night. In the past, I have purchased wooden coops from a national big name company that have already had to have the rooves replaced and are rotting away at the foundation despite being placed off the direct ground and the three coats of expensive outdoor paint used. My plan is to replace them with other Eglus down the road. I love the maintenance free plastic used for the coop. Assembly of both the coop and run was so easy. Time and care was taken with the packaging. I also added a clear rain guard to the run that worked terrific during the high winds and rain we received from Francine a couple weeks ago. She and her food remained dry! I'm so glad I bought this setup!

Perfect
An Omleteer, Dorset,
This is my second GoUp. I’m so pleased with my first that when I decided to get more hens (they arrive in a fortnight) I didn’t hesitate to build another GoUp for them. The auto door in the cage adds flexibility for me and the hens.

Unconventional brooder
Connie, Texas,
I originally ordered the Eglu Go Up to have an isolation shelter for a weak bullied hen but never used it for that purpose. I always brood my babies in my home with a DIY brooder but this time, I was raising twice the chicks and they quickly became over crowded. They were too young to put with my cranky old laying hens and had to think out of the box to figure out what to do. I completely wrapped the run of the Go Up with 1/4” hardware cloth and completely covered the floor of the coop itself with nesting pads so none of the babies would get trapped or hurt on the roosting bars…. then put the coop and run in a semi shaded area of the yard, layed out a skirt of 1/4” hardware cloth around the perimeter… (the skirt that comes with the run couldn’t deter the chicken snakes), then placed a reflective heat barrier over the top of the run. It gets over 100 degrees daily in my part of Texas so I thought the heat barrier couldn’t hurt. The Go Up is not recommended for young chicks but I was desperate - now, 15 baby leghorns are having a blast in their new “brooder”. They are playing and perching on the ladder and occasionally venture into the coop. The Go Up and run is working wonderfully for this unintended and unrecommended purpose of housing 3 week old leghorns.
